Prometheus' Trickyploys

Prometheus, like many Greek mythological characters, is not without his faults. He is known for his mischievous antics and clever tricks. Our coloring pages depict some of his most iconic moments, allowing kids to visualize and understand these famous tales.

One of Prometheus' most renowned tricks was deceiving Zeus, the King of Gods, into choosing the lesser part of a sacrifice. He cleverly wrapped the bones and hide of an ox in beautiful, shiny fat, while presenting the juicy, delicious meat wrapped in disgusting entrails. Zeus, being the god of wisdom, fell for this trick, choosing the wrapped bones and hide, leading to theesseurs acquiring the power of divination. This story is a great way to teach kids about wit, trickery, and the consequences of our actions.

Deceiving Cronus

Another one of Prometheus' famous tricks involved deceiving his father, Cronus, the former King of the Titans. Knowing that Cronus had swallowed all of his children to prevent a prophecy stating that one of them would overthrow him, Prometheus tricked him into swallowing a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes instead of his newborn brother, Zeus. This allowed Zeus to grow up safe and strong, ultimately leading to Cronus' demise. This coloring page provides an excellent opportunity to discuss the importance of deception and strategy in overcoming formidable challenges.

Coloring this page can help children visualize this famous mythological scene and understand the significance of Prometheus' actions. You can also use this moment to discuss the importance of teamwork and strategic planning, as Prometheus' trick would not have been successful without the help of Gaia, the Mother Earth.

The Prometheus Bound Story

Perhaps Prometheus' most well-known tale is his binding to a rock as punishment for defying the gods. After helping humanity by stealing fire from Mount Olympus, Prometheus was chained to a rock on the Caucasian mountains. Here, he would remain for eternity, suffering in silence, until Heracles would eventually free him. This heart-wrenching story highlights the consequences of defying the gods and the importance of staying loyal to them.

Prometheus and the Creation of Mankind

Prometheus' role in Greek mythology extends far beyond his mischievous tricks and cunning schemes. He also played a crucial part in the creation of humanity. According to myth, Prometheus sculpted the first humans from clay, gifting them with consciousness and intelligence. This act of creation made humans' melihat Prometheus as their paternal ancestor and protector.
