Jesus Christ, as recounted in the New Testament, performed numerous miracles that left his followers and onlookers astonished. One such remarkable event was when Jesus walked on water, an act that continues to inspire faith and amazement among believers today. Our free printable coloring page captures this very moment, depicting Jesus calmly traversing the turbulent waters of the Sea of Galilee, with a fearful Peter trying to follow suit.

The Story of Jesus Walking on Water

On a stormy night, the disciples were navigating through the Sea of Galilee by boat. Suddenly, Jesus approached them, walking on the water's surface, with the wind and waves at his command (Matthew 14:25-27). Seeing this, the terrified disciples exclaimed, "It's a ghost!" But Jesus reassured them, saying, "It is I; don't be afraid." Peter, encouraged by Jesus' words, asked, "Lord, if it's you, tell me to come to you on the water." Jesus invited him, and Peter stepped out of the boat, beginning to walk on the water towards Jesus. However, as he saw the strong winds and waves, he started to sink, calling out, "Lord, save me!" Jesus immediately reached out his hand, pulling Peter out of the water and saying, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" (Matthew 14:28-31)

This account serves as a powerful reminder of Jesus' divinity, his power over nature, and his empathy for his followers' doubts and fears. It also illustrates the importance of faith and trust in Jesus, as demonstrated by Peter's bold and subsequent faltering steps on the water.
