Elasmosaurus: A Dinosaur or a Marine Reptile?

Before you start filling in your coloring page, let's clear up a common misconception. Elasmosaurus was not a dinosaur, despite its fearsome appearance. It was a marine reptile that coexisted with dinosaurs during the Mesozoic era. These creatures evolved from four-legged ancestors that returned to the sea, much like how modern dolphins and whales are descendants of land mammals.

Elasmosaurus belongs to the group of reptiles known as plesiosaurs, which are characterized by their large bodies, long necks, and paddle-like limbs. They lived bulky lives, utilizing their powerful flippers to swim and capture prey. So, grab your crayons and bring this marine reptile to life in your coloring book!
