Character Coloring Pages

The most popular Easy Wizard of Oz coloring pages feature the beloved characters from the classic tale. From Dorothy and her friends to the Wicked Witch of the West and her flying monkey minions, each character offers a unique coloring challenge for kids.

Here are some character-specific sub-topics to explore:

Dorothy and friends

The Dorothy coloring pages are must-haves for any Wizard of Oz collection. Your children can color Dorothy in her famous blue and white gingham dress, complete with her iconic red shoes. Or, they can color Dorothy with her companions - the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion - as they journey towards the Emerald City.

To make the activity more interactive, why not have your kids color each character based on their personality traits? For instance, they can use bright, cheerful colors for Dorothy and the Tin Man, while opting for more earthy tones for the Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion.

The Wicked Witch and her minions

The Wicked Witch of the West coloring pages allow children to explore their creative side with her Menacing appearance. They can use dark colors like purple and black to depict her evil nature. Similarly, the flying monkeys coloring pages let kids experiment with different shades of brown and grey to bring these mischievous creatures to life.

As an extension activity, you could ask your children to design their own 'good witch' character to balance out the Wicked Witch's evil. This encourages them to think about contrasting colors and themes, all while having fun with the Wizard of Oz story.

Scene-Based Coloring Pages

The Wizard of Oz scene coloring pages transport children right into the magical world of Oz. From the tornado that sweeps Dorothy away to the vibrant Emerald City and the poppy field where Dorothy and her friends fall asleep, each scene is rich in detail and lore.

Here are some scene-based sub-topics to consider:

The Tornado and Kansas scenes

The famous tornado coloring pages offer a unique challenge for kids, as they try to capture the swirling, chaotic nature of the storm. They can also color the peaceful Kansas farm scene that Dorothy leaves behind, contrasting the two different worlds.

For an added educational twist, you could ask your kids to research facts about real-life tornadoes while they're working on their coloring pages. This blends science learning with art, keeping them engaged and curious.

The Emerald City and the Yellow Brick Road

The Emerald City coloring pages allow children to explore their understanding of color theory. With the city's sparkling green buildings and lush landscape, they can practice using different shades of green to create depth and texture.

Meanwhile, the Yellow Brick Road coloring pages are perfect for teaching kids about warm and cool colors. They can use bright, warm hues like orange and yellow for the road, and cooler shades like blue and purple for the nighttime sky.

As your children complete each Easy Wizard of Oz coloring page, encourage them to share their creations with you, explaining their color choices and the story behind their artwork. This fosters a love for both literature and art, all while fostering your child's creativity and imagination. Happy coloring!
