Sonic the Hedgehog: Exclusive Color Pages From Upcoming Movie

Sonic the Hedgehog, the speedy blue hedgehog, has been a beloved video game character since his debut in 1991. Now, he's taking the leap from pixels to big screens, with the release of not one, but two feature-length films. "Sonic the Hedgehog" (2020) and "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" (2022) have become the subject of intense speculation and excitement among fans. Let's dive into the details of the "color pages" and concept art that have surfaced during the production of these movies.

The "color pages," also known as concept art, play a crucial role in the development of any film. They provide a visual representation of the characters, settings, and overall esthetic of the movie. In the case of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, these pages have given fans a closer look at the design of their favorite characters, like Sonic and Tails, and their new surroundings.

Sonic's New Design

Sonic's transformation from video game character to live-action film star was a hot topic of discussion among fans. The initial trailer for the first movie sparked controversy due to Sonic's human teeth and muscular body. After much debate, Paramount Pictures and Sega went back to the drawing board, resulting in a revised design with larger eyes, smaller teeth, and a less human-like body.

Concept art and color pages revealed this revised design, helping to reassure fans that their favorite hedgehog was in good hands. The updated Sonic features a more streamlined, cartoony design that maintains the essence of his video game counterpart while still being plausible in a live-action setting.

Sonic's Emblem

One detail that remained consistent throughout the design process was Sonic's iconic red and white sneakers, and his recognizable golden emblem. These elements serve as a link to his video game origins and are instantly recognizable to fans. The color pages show these details in close-up, giving viewers a good look at the love and care put into Sonic's new design.

In "Sonic the Hedgehog 2," Sonic's design is further refined. The color pages from the second film show Sonic with more detailed fur, a sharper quill, and a more expressive face. This evolution in design reflects the character's growth and learning throughout the series.

Sonic's Abilities

Concept art and color pages have also given fans a sneak peek at Sonic's abilites in the films. Images show Sonic mid-speed, with his iconic sonic boom and maneuvering through loops and corkscrews, paying homage to his video game roots. These images provide insight into the action sequences viewers can expect in the films.

The color pages also reveal new abilities that Sonic will be showcasing in the second film. While keeping details under wraps, the images hint at new powers that will help Sonic in his fight against Dr. Robotnik.

Supporting Characters and Settings

The "color pages" aren't limited to Sonic alone. They also provide a wealth of information about the other characters and settings in the films.

Tom Wachowski, the small-town cop and eventual ally to Sonic, is one such character. The color pages give fans a look at Tom's uniform, his patrol car, and even some of the memorable chase scenes featuring him and Sonic.

Miles "Tails" Prower

One of the most anticipated supporting characters in "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" is Miles "Tails" Prower, Sonic's best friend and sidekick. The color pages from the sequel reveal Tails' design for the first time, showing off his two tails, orange and white color scheme, and goggles. These images give fans a clear idea of how Tails will integrate into the live-action universe.

The color pages also hint at Tails' role in the film, showing him flying alongside Sonic during their high-speed adventures. This is a nod to Tails' flight ability in the video games, and it's exciting to see this ability translate to the big screen.

Gondola Action Sequence

One of the most impressive images from the color pages is a sweeping shot of Green Hills, the town where Sonic first lands on Earth. The image shows the town nestled in a lush valley, with the Wachowski's home and the police station prominent in the foreground. This image and others like it give fans a sense of the scale and scope of the films.

A standout set piece from "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" that is prominently featured in the color pages is the gondola action sequence. Images show Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles (another fan-favorite character) racing through the expansive mountain range, dodging avalanches, and navigating treacherous terrain. This sequence is a testament to the films' commitment to spectacle and action.

The "color pages" from the Sonic the Hedgehog movies have been an invaluable tool for fans, providing insight into the design process, the characters, and the story. They serve as a bridge between the video games and the live-action films, reassuring fans that their favorite characters are in capable hands. As we look towards the future of the Sonic franchise, it's clear that the "color pages" will continue to be a vital resource for fans, giving them a sneak peek at the exciting adventures that await them.
